Our track layout has been altered as we have constructed a new platform this involved moving the existing point to a new location a little further down from the new station to create a bay platform. We will have two platforms at our new Felin Fawr station and this will allow us to have more capacity for trains during busy periods such as events. Our team of volunteers have also been very busy over the winter in relaying track in our yard outside the locomotive shed we ...Read Full Post »

We are pleased to announce that Fernilee has now been sold. Yesterday the previous owner John Sutton came up to the railway to steam Fernilee and finalise the sale of the loco to Barry Fitzpatrick.
The railway has now come to an agreement with Mr Fitzpatrick for a long term loan of the locomotive.
Fernilee will now be operating passenger trains on the PQR starting Monday the 29th of May.

We are pleased to announce that we have another steam visitor for 2017. 'Fernilee visited us at our June event last year, and her loco owner John has kindly agreed for her to come back and operate on the PQR. 'Fernilee' will come to us in early May and it is hoped that she will stay for the duration of the year. With this loco we will now be running more steam services from May onwards. 'Gwynedd' will then be joining 'Fernilee' on the line in August.

Since April there have been a few developments. The rail from nearby will provide 120ft of track which gets us underneath the bridge. We have located more 50lb flat bottom rail and points in England which we are currently in negotiation with. We are looking to have the site cleared by September but there probably won’t be any track down.
In other news we have acquired another locomotive of loan to the railway. It is a motor rail S...Read Full Post »

April has been a very busy month for us as everything seems to happening at once...
With the donations of over £9,000 towards our under the bridge appeal, we started to look around at rail sources as the east riggs deal fell through. We have also located some more 50lb rail from mid Wales which we are in consultancy over at the moment. We have also ...Read Full Post »
